Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable hard plastic) is used to repair chips or cracks, close gaps between your teeth or build up the worn-down edges of teeth. This procedure is done chairside and involves several steps. After preparing the cavity, we will thoroughly clean and dry the tooth. We then place an “adhesive” on the tooth so that it will “bond” with the resin material. After selecting a proper shade to match your teeth, we then place the resin material on the prepared surfaces and “cure” it with a special light. This hardens the filling and ultimately "bonds" the material to the tooth. After shaping and polishing the filling, we double check to make sure your bite hasn’t changed. You may treat the filling as a natural tooth by cleaning and flossing it as you normally do. Dental bonding not only repairs damaged or decayed teeth it improves the overall appearance and health of teeth making it look more natural.
